in purchase of Detroit automaker's namesake, Lincoln brands

DETROIT, Mich.--Ford and Carfax have agreed to provide Carfax vehicle history reports for the Ford and Lincoln certified pre-owned (CPO) programs. Starting Jan. 1, 2013, Ford is committed to providing a free Carfax Vehicle History Report for every Ford and Lincoln CPO vehicle.

“Carfax vehicle history reports make the Ford Certified program better,” said Mark Ninomiya, general manager at Suburban Ford of Waterford, Mich. “They provide added peace of mind and are the name that our customers trust. We’ve made countless on-the-spot sales by showing people the value of having Carfax information and why you shouldn’t buy without it.”

Ford and Lincoln CPO vehicles now come with a Carfax Report and are covered by the Carfax Buyback Guarantee. Ford CPO cars pass a 172-point inspection and are backed by a 12-month/12,000 mile comprehensive limited warranty plus a 7-year/100,000 mile limited powertrain warranty. Lincoln CPO cars pass a 200-point inspection and are backed by a 6-year/100,000 mile comprehensive warranty. Certified Ford and Lincoln buyers also get complimentary 24/7 roadside assistance.

“I bought a certified Ford Expedition at Tom Wood Ford,” said Carfax customer Lisa Cunning of Carmel, Ind. “The Carfax Report showed the vehicle was a Carfax one-owner and was originally purchased and regularly serviced at the same dealership. That told me the original owner was pleased with the product and the service, so I was confident I was making the right choice. And, because the vehicle was certified, it came with a warranty through Ford. It’s the perfect vehicle for me.”

“Carfax proved to be one of the key enhancements Ford wants for its Certified programs,” said Joe Koenig, vice president of Carfax. “We share Ford’s commitment to ensure their customers buy certified Ford and Lincoln vehicles with greater confidence.”
