The Dealer Controlled Finance track will include education on buy here pay here (BHPH), lease here pay here (LHPH) and rent-to-own (RTO).
Dubois's session, which focuses on BHPH, will feature:
* The four pillars of BHPH
* Best practices
* Industry benchmarks
* Cash flow
* Deal structure
* Underwriting and collections
For dealers looking to improve their BHPH or other Dealer Controlled Finance operations, attending this session will provide a measuring stick for comparison and ideas for improving your business. For dealers looking to move into dealer controlled financing, Dubois has first hand experience in building BHPH operations from the ground-up.
A 30-year veteran if the automotive industry, he joined CarBiz in 2004 as regional manager for the Florida Auto Credit division. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business, he opened and managed three BHPH car lots, which included hiring staff, buying inventory, reconditioning, advertising and promotion, deal structure, underwriting and collections, managing delinquency and charge offs, and building the customer account base. Presently, there are 25 CarBiz Auto Credit stores in nine states selling 400 to 500 cars each month.
Dubois will also be featured on an expert panel on Day One of the convention, along with Emily Beck, industry attorney and partner in the Maryland office of Hudson Cook, LLP, and Dave Keller, noted CPA, CFE and principal of LarsonAllen LLC. The panelists will discuss the differences between BHPH, LHPH and RTO to help dealers determine the strengths of each and which is most appropriate for them.
