Hyundai and Kia recalled more than 100,000 late-model vehicles in North America due to fire risk, alerting owners to park them outdoors and set back from buildings.

The South Korean carmakers said the electric oil pump assembly could contain damaged components that could lead to overheating and fire, though they said they weren’t aware of any fires to date.

Kia recalled the 2023 Soul and Sportage and the 2023 and 2024 Selto. Hyundai recalled the 2023 Elantra, Kona, Palisade, Sonata and Tuscon and the 2024 Palisade.

The brands’ dealers will inspect the vehicles and repair the assembly if needed free of charge.
