General Motors said it’s partnering with Google Cloud to employ generative artificial intelligence in its vehicles and other areas of GM's business.
The partnership expands on the use of Google Cloud AI technology in GM’s OnStar virtual assistant that started last year. The two companies will now pursue generative AI applications in other ways.
“Generative AI has the potential to revolutionize the buying, ownership, and interaction experience inside the vehicle and beyond, enabling more opportunities to deliver new features and services,” said GM Executive Vice President, Software and Services, Mike Abbott in a press release.
GM said it first used Google technologies in its vehicles in 2019. The OnStar system uses intent-recognition technology for routing and navigation and occupant questions.
Now the partners want to expand AI to other parts of GM.
“Our software-led approach has accelerated the creation of compelling services for our customers while driving increased efficiency across the GM enterprise,”
