BMW issued a voluntary temporary stop-sale notice to U.S. and Canadian dealers to stop selling its new and used gas-powered motorcycles due to an issue with an evaporation system that might not comply with emissions standards.

The CE 04 electric scooter is an exception.

The emissions-related issue behind the notice doesn’t affect safety, so owners can continue to ride their motorcycles, the German automaker says.

The system in question “may not have been produced to material specifications,” BMW said in a statement.
