CHICAGO — Auto dealers and other retailers are set to gain a better understanding of store traffic, as Ipsos Retail Performance takes its footfall counting technology a step further with a technological “first,” the company announced, releasing details of a new staff exclusion feature designed to give users a more accurate count.

Believed to be the first of its kind on the market, the tool has been developed to set the gold standard for accuracy, particularly in stores where the employee-to-customer ratio is high, such as in telecoms retail stores and luxury brand flagships, executives said.

“This system is designed to be as easy to use as possible, with staff simply wearing small and discreet Bluetooth tags while they are at work,” said Peter Luff, president of Ipsos Retail Performance. “Our footfall counting systems automatically filter anyone wearing the tag, so retailers only see customer footfall data.”
