Toyota is bringing back the Land Cruiser, its oldest model, to North America at a more affordable price.

The five-passenger sports utility vehicle, first introduced in the U.S. in 1958 but absent for the past three years, has retro styling and a four-cylinder hybrid powertrain for the U.S. market, where customers will be able to get a 1958-style version with round headlights and other classic styling.

The 2024 off-roader will sell in the mid-$50,000 range, much more affordable than predecessors that had sold for increasingly higher prices. Toyota will release 5,000 first editions, followed by the 1958 version and the Land Cruiser version.

“This icon belongs in our lineup,” said Toyota Group Vice President and General Manager Dave Christ in a press release.

Toyota said it sold just one Cruiser in the model’s first year on the U.S. market., but it became an iconic favorite here.
