Nissan Motor Co. announced plans to idle production of three vehicle models—the Murano crossover, Leaf electric hatchback, and Maxima sedan—at its plant in Smyrna, Tennessee.

The automaker will shutter production for four additional weeks following the plants two-week summer shutdown, which begins in late June.

Nissan did not comment on a date to restart production of the three models but announced plans to suspend Altima production at its Canton, Mississippi plant.

Shuttering production of certain models is necessary as automakers allocate the semiconductor chips they can get to their most popular models. The automaker has reallocated chips to its Sentra, Rogue and Kicks vehicles.

Nissan also plans to introduce redesigned versions of the Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 crossovers and the Frontier midsize pickup.
