Famous Rhodes brings automotive online lead generation experience and a passion for racing and muscle cars to the eBay Motors team
SAN JOSE, CA – eBay Motors announced the addition of Famous Rhodes as director of its Parts & Accessories category, where a part or accessory sells every second. In this role, Rhodes is responsible for the strategic direction, technical execution and overall success of the automotive parts & accessories category.
“Famous is an excellent addition to our strong team,” said Rob Chesney, vice president of eBay Motors. “His extensive expertise in both the automotive arena and finance space will be a key driver for our parts and accessories category.”
Rhodes has several years of experience in the online lead generation industry. He is the former president and co-founder of Talon Lead Services, which provides lead generation to a variety of verticals including automotive. Prior to Talon, Rhodes was a management executive at DXS, and Car.com/Autobytel. Early in his career, he worked at KPMG in its incubation group, helping to start up a variety of companies including InstantAuto.com. He has a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M and an MBA from Texas Christian University.
Rhodes grew up using eBay Motors at his family’s auto dealerships, who were early adopters of the site, selling both vehicles and parts. His father, Paul Rhodes, was a “famous” dirt track racer in the 1970s, thus his name. Rhodes did not follow in his father’s footsteps professionally, but continues, when he has time, to fix up race cars with his friends. His other automotive passion is the great American muscle car, in particular Corvettes.
Rhodes appointment follows the recent promotion of two senior leaders at eBay Motors. Rob Chesney to vice president, eBay Motors, Marketplaces, and Curtis Kroeker to director, Vehicles.
