PORTLAND, Ore. — Automotive HR and compliance solutions provider Compli announced today the availability of a free whitepaper designed to give auto dealerships a roadmap for creating a safe and harassment-free workplace.

More than 200 harassment charges a day are filed with the EEOC. Workforce Magazine estimates that the potential cost for out-of-court harassment settlements is $125,000 per case for small to mid-sized companies.

“Harassment in the workplace can put an auto dealership at great legal and financial risk, as well as inhibit its ability to attract and retain talent,” said Toby Graham, Compli’s director of marketing and editor of the Smart Compliance blog. “Additionally, more states are requiring anti-harassment training. We want to ensure our auto dealer partners are ready when their state mandates it.”

The Compli whitepaper summarizes recommendations by the EEOC’s Select Task Force on the Study of Harassment in the workplace and covers four key elements any successful program should include: leadership and accountability, clear policies, compliance training, and reporting and investigation.

“A fair and safe work environment ensures no one employee is above the law, even a dealership’s super stars,” added Graham. “Anti-harassment is a company-wide obligation that starts with a full-time commitment to training.”
