Honda has confirmed plans to introduce cars with Android Automotive OS (AAOS) in 2023.

The Honda Accord will be the first to offer Android Automotive with Google Automotive Services. The automaker’s top of the line Touring model Accord will come with “Google built-in”

Honda’s new top-of-the-line Touring model Accord will come with "Google built-in," meaning it will feature Google Automotive Services (GAS). With Android Automotive in place, drivers will access familiar-looking Google apps, like Maps, from their dash. Automakers can choose to implement AAOS without GAS, but the 2023 Accord will offer both.

The Accord’s GAS features will include Assistant, Maps, and the Play Store, which will work independently of the driver’s phone. Drivers will summon Google Assistant with Voice Match to access features like climate control, seat heating, navigation, and others without interacting with the vehicle’s 12.3-inch infotainment screen or 6-inch HUD.

OTA updates will enable Honda to add new software capabilities, fixes, and essential improvements down the line.

Honda will also equip the 11th-generation Accord with a 1.5-liter turbocharged motor paired with a dual-motor electric hybrid system. The Accord Touring package also comes with a 10.2-inch digital instrument display for the driver, 15-watt wireless charging, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and a new front sensor camera and radar system. Android Auto is available on lower trims as is Apple CarPlay for iPhone users.

Honda hasn’t outlined plans to add Android Automotive to other vehicles at this time.
