NEW YORK — Car and Driver has released its annual “10Best Cars” list for 2017. This list, the company stated, recognizes the best cars on the market for under $80,000.

“We keep the 10Best rules to a minimum and simply let the best rise to the top. Contenders must have a base price of $80,000 or less, be on sale in January 2017, and show up for our September testing. That’s it,” the publication stated in its release. “It’s damn hard to make our 10Best Cars list. A contender must execute its mission at the highest level and deliver a driving experience somewhere between sublime and messianic.”

Winners included the Chevrolet Bolt; Chevrolet Camaro V-6/V-8 Coupes; Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport; BMW M2/M240i; Ford Shelby Mustang GT350/GT350R; Honda Accord I-4/V-6 Coupes/Sedans; Mazda 3 Hatchback/Sedan; Mazda MX-5 Miata/RF; Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman; and Volkswagen Golf/Alltrack/GTI/R.

The publication also announced that it will be announcing its first ever 10Best Trucks & SUVs awards on Dec. 6. These awards, it added, will recognize honorees in 10 different segments.
