IRVINE, Calif. — For the second year in a row, IntelliChoice has named Kia Motors America (KMA)’s certified pre-owned program as its Best Popular Program, the firms announced today.

“Kia’s continued CPO growth reflects the brands dedication to providing consumers with world-class design and advanced technology features,” said Michael Sprague, COO and executive vice president of KMA. “The IntelliChoice Best Popular Program award is further proof of Kia’s commitment to top-notch craftsmanship backed by an industry-leading warranty.”

IntelliChoice evaluates 25 manufacturer-backed programs and segments into two different categories: Premium and Popular. The manufacturers that appear in each category are dependent on the market position and price range of their vehicles. This year, 12 vehicles were judged in the premium category and 13 in the popular category.

Each manufacturer, the company stated, is evaluated on nine key components, a few of which include extended manufacturer warranties, used-car ownership costs, inspection process comprehensiveness, and special financing incentives.

In the case of Kia, the brand’s CPO program — administered by JM&A Group — only accepts Kia vehicles that are five years or newer with less than 60,000 miles. Each vehicle is also put through a 150-point Quality Assurance inspection and comes with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and 12-month/ 12,000-mile Platinum Coverage.

“Kia continues to edge out the competition by performing well in all nine elements analyzed by IntelliChoice,” said Eric Anderson, director of data products for IntelliChoice. “Shoppers are giving the program a ringing endorsement with Kia having double digit sales increases for the last five years.”
