General Motors has reportedly reversed its decision to lay off 1,245 workers at three plants in Brazil following the resolution of the United Auto Workers strike, said Sind Metals, a metalworkers union

The announcement to not layoff workers at plants in São José dos Campos city, São Caetano do Sul city and Mogi das Cruzes city came a day after the Supreme Labor Court in Brazil rejected the automaker's request for an injunction to maintain the layoffs.

Plans have been announced by GM to meet with three unions and cancel layoffs through internal procedures.

“The resumption of jobs is a historic victory, the result of the strong struggle of workers in the three cities. There were 13 days on strike and a lot of unity in defense of jobs. We showed the strength of our unions”, the vice-president of the Metalworkers Union of São José dos Campos, Valmir Mariano, said in the Sind Metals statement.
