Chrysler is recalling 142,150 vehicles over an issue that causes high beams and turn signals to activate in error.

The recall applies to Ram 1500 Classics, Ram 3500 Classics and 3500 Cab Chassis of the 2023 model year, as well as Ram 2500s, 4500/5500 Cab Chassis and Ram 3500s from the 2023 and 2024 model years.

According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, the steering column control module may cause high beams to activate when the turn signal is used or activate the turn signal when the high beams are used. The turn signal's self-canceling feature also may not work properly, the notice says.

Malfunctioning turn signals and high beams may confuse other motorists or reduce driver visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect and, if needed, replace the steering column control module at no cost.

Letters to owners will begin mailing on Jan. 17, NHTSA says.
