Healthy spring new-vehicle sales in the U.S. ate into inventory last month, chopping down days’ supply.

Supply rose only marginally from 2.74 million units to 2.77 million but was up 46% year-over-year, Cox Automotive said. Days’ supply ended down seven days month-over-month to 72. That’s still 30% above a year earlier.

Models priced under $40,000 had the lowest supply, and Toyota was the brand with the least inventory at 33 days’ supply, Cox said.
